Thermalization and hydrodynamics of two-dimensional quantum field theories

چکیده
We consider 2d QFTs as relevant deformations of CFTs in the thermodynamic limit. Using causality and KPZ universality, we place a lower bound on timescale characterizing onset hydrodynamics. The is determined parametrically terms temperature scale associated with deformation. This typically much stronger than \frac{1}{T} 1T , expected quantum equilibration time. Subluminality sound further allows us to define C display="inline">C -function, constrain sign T\bar T display="inline">TT‾ term EFTs.

Two-dimensional Topological Quantum Field Theories and Frobenius Algebras
We characterize Frobenius algebras A as algebras having a comultiplication which is a map of A-modules. This characterization allows a simple demonstration of the compatibility of Frobenius algebra structure with direct sums. We then classify the indecomposable Frobenius algebras as being either \annihilator algebras" | algebras whose socle is a principal ideal | or eld extensions. The relation...
متن کاملBoundary bootstrap principle in two-dimensional integrable quantum field theories
We study the reflection amplitudes of affine Toda field theories with boundary, following the ideas developed by Fring and Koberle in [4],[5],[6] and focusing our attention on the En series elements, because of their interesting structure of higher order poles. We also investigate the corresponding minimal reflection matrices, finding, with respect to the bulk case, a more complicated relation ...
متن کاملThermalization of strongly coupled field theories.
Using the holographic mapping to a gravity dual, we calculate 2-point functions, Wilson loops, and entanglement entropy in strongly coupled field theories in d=2, 3, and 4 to probe the scale dependence of thermalization following a sudden injection of energy. For homogeneous initial conditions, the entanglement entropy thermalizes slowest and sets a time scale for equilibration that saturates a...
متن کاملTest of quantum thermalization in the two-dimensional transverse-field Ising model
We study the quantum relaxation of the two-dimensional transverse-field Ising model after global quenches with a real-time variational Monte Carlo method and address the question whether this non-integrable, two-dimensional system thermalizes or not. We consider both interaction quenches in the paramagnetic phase and field quenches in the ferromagnetic phase and compare the time-averaged probab...
متن کاملInhomogeneous thermalization in strongly coupled field theories.
To describe theoretically the creation and evolution of the quark-gluon plasma, one typically employs three ingredients: a model for the initial state, nonhydrodynamic early time evolution, and hydrodynamics. In this Letter we study the nonhydrodynamic early time evolution using the AdS/CFT correspondence in the presence of inhomogeneities. We find that the AdS description of the early time evo...
